I took this photo over the summer at Derby Square Bookstore in Salem, Massachusetts. This used bookstore has only a few shelves and then books stacked from floor to ceiling all throughout the store. This photo was taken near the front window of the store. I was attracted to this one corner because it seemed very warm and cozy. The stacks and shapes of the books make your eye bounce back and forth upward until you reach the bricks and the window. I put the photo into black and white because when it became too overwhelming when it was in colour. The variety of colour on the spines of the books was distracting and made the photo less intimate and homey, but I have thought about going into photoshop and softening the colours and adding a sepia tone to make it seem vintage. This photo is important to me because books are a big part of my life and have always been an escape for me. I went to Salem for the sole purpose of going to this bookstore and stepping into it was like heaven to me. To improve this I would maybe adjust the exposure of the photo because it seems to be overexposed where the window is.
