Step 1: Select a photo with strong contrast.
Step 2: Using Photoshop, convert the image to black and white and invert it.
Step 3: Adjust the image size to fit into a 5 x 7" space
Step 4: Print the image on regular paper to test the size and contrast, then print onto transparency paper
Step 5: Place a piece of cyanotype paper underneath your negative. Put a piece of plexiglass on top and clip it to a board in order to ensure that your negative will not slide around.
Step 6: Allow the negative and paper to expose for up to 6 minutes or until your paper turns a light blue.

Step 7: After the paper has turned a light blue, place it in a tray of water until it turns a bright blue colour.
For more vivid cyanotypes, you can add vinegar or lemon juice.
Step 8: After it has soaked in the tray, rinse it under water.
For darker blues, you can bathe your cyanotype in hydrogen peroxide or in coffee or tea
Step 9: Rinse again if soaked in peroxide, coffee, or tea.
Step 10: Hang to dry and enjoy your beautiful art work :'-)
