For this portfolio, I compiled various photographs I've taken in the past year that exhibit characteristics of decay and abandonment. Ordinarily these things are overlooked, often receiving a quick glance and then disregarded while we continue with our lives. As animals and buildings begin to decay, they also begin to lose their identity. What may have once been regarded as a small shop eventually begins fading away into the background of towns, continually driven by and only receiving an occasional passing glance from people in passenger seats with nowhere else to direct their gaze. The photos, along with the locations in which they were taken, are untitled. As buildings are abandoned and begin to decay and become lost in the advancement of the land around them, their names are also lost in the transition to modern times. I hope that by documenting the hidden beauty found in these abandoned structures, more people will begin discarding their fear and venturing into the unknown of these buildings before they’re completely gone.
